Super excited to announce this.
I’m going to be hosting my first in-person event right here in SLC.
What is the event going to be about? A couple of weeks ago I asked you what type of topic that you would like to see from me. I got such a good amount of feedback on what you would like for me to discuss. Some even asked if I was open to sharing a Google Hangout stream of the event. I’m still in a highly debated discussion if I’m going to offer this event online or not. For the topic that I’m going to be covering it’s going to be a 2 hour in-person class about the programming fundamentals with JavaScript.
Back in 2015, I set out on a trip for 3 months. As I was going about my travels, I still had time to work remotely on my client work and work on extra side projects. The one that kept showing up, again and again, was “How to code”. This is something that I struggled with when I was younger and if I could go back in time this is the one thing that I would change.
Programming literally drives my entire business and most of life right now and for the near foreseeable future, it’s what allows me to be valuable to the companies that I serve. Without programming, I would probably still be working a dead end job doing something that I hate. Programming is the tool that gets you going down the path of creating something that others value. Knowing that programming can set you up for success, I had to do something to let others know. I started to write a book about learning to code the title for the book Modern Code – The Programming Fundamentals with JavaScript, it was such a painful growing experience of writing this book. I push through and got it done.
After some thought, this is what the event is going to be about! I’m going to be sharing my story and at the same time giving you some of my insight about how you can get started with programming. I can’t teach you every single thing about programming in just 2 hours but I sure can tell you what path you need to follow.
Here it is the first version of the flyer that I’m planning on posting around SLC.
Let me know your thoughts with a comment below.
