Start by going over to the main site for VirtualBox Downloads and selecting the following option VirtualBox 5.0 for Linux hosts
. This link will take you to a selection for what type of Linux version you are using. In my case, I’m using an Ubuntu-based system. This starts a download with a file name VirtualBox-5.*.deb
. Double-click it to open the software center. Select install
and wait for the install to finish. This will require your machine to restart.
After the reboot, open the program and go to file
and click on Preferences
. Next, click the Host-only Networks
and click on add host-only network(Ins)
.
Now, click on edit host-only network(Ins)
. The adapter settings should only be modified if you have subnetworks to other machines. Otherwise, the default settings are fine.
On the DHCP Server
tab make sure that this option is disabled.
Now VirtualBox is ready to be set up with Ubuntu.
