I have been a long time fan of the Genesis Framework it’s what helped me go from a crappy free website to an awesome responsive one that works right out of the box.
The genesis framework is a complete no-brainer if you want to become a REAL blogger, although I can put something much nicer together, I’m not in the business of creating themes this is why I’m just going to let the Genesis framework do all the heavy lifting for me.
You are going to want to have installed and configured WordPress. If you have not setup WordPress you are going to want to read this blog post: How To Install WordPress on Ubuntu once you have WordPress setup go and purchase a copy of the Genesis Framework and download the .zip
files.
If you have Setup WordPress correctly you should be able to use the WordPress UI to upload and configure the Genesis Framework. Here are the steps to accomplish the setup and install the Genesis Framework.
You MUST first install the Genesis Framework Parent theme before the child theme!

- Access the WordPress dashboard at
/wp-admin
- Head over to Appearance → Themes

button on the top - Click on the
Upload Theme

The process of installing a parent and child theme is the exact same process.
If WordPress is returning you an error when uploading the .zip
folder make sure that you have setup WordPress correctly. If you want to bypass this issues you can just use the scp
command on your Mac and send over the zip file with the following commands to send and extract.
If you are using an FTP program to upload files to your server you might want to check out FileZilla an open source program to upload the files to the server.
That’s how easy it is to setup the Genesis Framework.
