Setting up SNMP on a cisco device
- Start SNMP service on router, no command is needed for this
- Create a CAC (community access control) for SNMP (simple Network Management Protocol) This will give public read-only access.
- Get some basic system information, type this command:
- Save your setup
exit
write memory
snmp-server community public ro
snmp-server contact yourname
To setup location of device type this command:
snmp-server location place
This should be similar processes with different type’s of routers.
