Last month on January 17th I launched learnmean.com, at first it was just a simple landing page to try to get users to convert over to paying for my content. After all I did spend a large amount of effort and time creating the eBook and the video series, being completely honest with you I was not expecting the amount of sales that I received from that one single landing page in other words people actually starting buying what I had to offer. The way I setup the landing page was with Paypal and after the payment cleared you would be directed to a link that would blacklist your IP and push over 800+mb of files over the wire, YIKES! If you are interested in the script check out the repo, at this point I felt obligated to create a better solution and with my current time constraints I had to do it in under 4 hours in order to provide a better user experience for every single guide that was sold.
After taking some time and reflecting on the content I decided to raise the price of the package up to $49.99, Yes I know that’s a 333.5% percent increase in price. I must be out of my mind to charge that amount of money for something that is completely free. By the way you can find the eBook if you piece the tutorials for the mean stack from my blog and you can find the videos all on youtube so why pay? I believe this is what differentiates a professional from a novice, think back to your college days or anything that you had to pay your self to get educated. If it was free information like most education in the US, you take it for granted as useless or common sense. The one you value is the one that made you cry rivers of blood, I am talking about Discrete Mathematics, Advance Algorithms, Physics and Calculus just to name a few.
One of the many reasons why I decided to raise the price was due to the influx of emails that started arriving to my inbox. Don’t get me wrong I love helping people out, but I am not here to hold your hand and write the code for you! My time is valuable and I value it highly, that being said I am willing to help out those that are willing to pay for what I believe to be a great guide to getting started with the MEAN stack .
Still not convinced? Check out what John had to say about this very subject.
The main reason why it’s worth every penny paying the $49.99 is for commitment! I’m such a believer of this concept that I am giving away a free macbook pro to one lucky winner so that I can hone this skill even more this year. Learn how to get a free macbook pro, still not sold on why you should pay the cost? If you ever started something and just could not get through the entire 10 hours on training on that subject and just gave up? I can probably tell you why, because you did not put anything on the line it did not matter if you learn that subject or not. But now let’s say you have a pregnant wife, two kids, and college loans and no job. I bet you will be mastering that subject in no time at all.
Now what are you waiting for?
Go out and start programming your next application with MEAN.
Till next time,
Rick H.
